It was designed assuming no rudder pedals or other panels besides just the HOTAS, hence the inclusion of items like landing gear, finger lifts, and throttle ... Map your axes first, then the really obvious stuff like trigger, pickle, trim, stuff like that. Then just get into the training, and map stuff as it comes up.
